Afternoons

Iridescent light

That floods into the room

The hours pass in quietness

Life unfolds at gentle pace

We wile away our lives

In ways that reflect ourselves

Passage of time that gathers steam

As deadlines loom

For action and response

This day lasts as long as any other

Ticking of the clock upon the wall

Keeping pace; we somehow

fall

behind.
