Refrain

And as the dusty sunset crosses your past
may you rest even as you tread weary
across this humble land,
may the polish of a blue
cloudless day light your tomorrow
and the gentle gusts fill your hair (as sails).
Go and go well, lest you tarry
and time betrays you
captured in that moment.

Treble bells coil in my ears
as your voice spins me closer to my soul
not to light but to darkness
to rest; in the dark.
As feelings settle as dust
I feel you alive in me,
as a tremor, a haunting lullaby,
a salute to heaviness, to the joy of the darkness
to the slumber of incantations and perilous thoughts.

Blessings to propel you onwards
fall like petals from my lips.
They are Islands of beauty
captured  by the wind,
painting hypnotic invisible abstractions
as they cycle; moving, breathing, living.
Such beauty too precious to last.
Now is alive! Tomorrow is gone.
This the price we pay for knowing today
the price we pay for love and memory.

Refrain
And as the dusty sunset crosses your past
may you rest even as you tread weary
across this humble land,
may the polish of a blue
cloudless day light your tomorrow
and the gentle gusts fill your hair (as sails).
Go and go well, lest you tarry
and time betrays you
captured in that moment
(leaving you here a little longer with me.).

When the Rain Came

When the rain came
with a bang and a flash
it changed the silence
chanting on tin rooves
finding cracks in the ceiling.
It ambushed the earth with thunder and wind
mapping a new geography...
carving new flood lines with its invasion.

When the rain came
we sacrificed ourselves in the streets
intoxicated with  sparkling new earth
we anointed it with soap and shampoo.
Cold fingers warmed us like fire
liquid needles pumped joy into our veins
parched gardens grew deep in our watery hearts,
we danced like the prophets of Baal

When the rain came
we were young, for minutes and for hours
but the rain of days made us old and lustless.
Our thoughts returned to decay
our bodies stank like the ruins of rome
we sheltered under the ceiling of civlizations
and our empty souls stared through empty windows
into deserted streets, as days drained into gutters.

When the rain came.

He

He comes to me in silence
He comes to me in light

My Love
Softly breathing
Stale of sweat and earth

He comes to me in darkness
He comes to me in night
