Predawn Thing

After '4.48: Psychosis' by Sarah Kane

This life may be a lie; a dream;
a computer simulation built by aliens.
I wake at 4.38 am
see the same red numbers,
and know the hologram of my life.
The still curtains.
A movement on the windowpane:
an unknown insect
appearing from the predawn grey.
My eyes so close, watching.
It seems to speak of something I will always
be watching.
